For the third time in my last four Amazon Prime orders they have failed to meet the 2-day shipping commitment I am paying for, and when I contact them to correct this I am given the excuse “oh, that’s because it’s coming from a different Fulfillment Center”.
Wait, what? You guys are the kings of data, distribution and fulfillment. Asking me to believe you didn’t know exactly which fulfillment center this was coming from when I was perusing the site and placing my order is an insult, and borders on being lied to.
I’ve re-checked each of these orders and in every case the order confirmation email I have received after my order was placed re-confirmed my order would be delivered in two days, and in each case on the committed date of delivery my delivery date gets pushed out to the following day.
Sadly I’ve developed the habit of checking my order status first thing on the day of committed delivery, finding it’s been pushed out, getting on the phone or chat, get the “different fulfillment center” excuse, explaining that this is not acceptable, receive an apology while they scramble to get my order delivered that day, and most times receive a $5.00 credit on my account.
Given the frequency this has happened over the past several months I’m left to wonder if this is becoming standard business practice and Amazon is hoping that enough customers don’t notice, or don’t care, allowing them to grind out additional profit on each transaction.
So, is this happening to you?
